General Urban Development Plan of Seville

Seville’s Urban Plan faced the CHALLENGE of transforming a city characterized in 2000 not only by its inertia to tradition but also by its bad and polarised economy, in addition to dealing with a high unemployment rate, implementing its condition of CAPITALITY, the presence of an IMPORTANT INFRASTRUCTURAL NETWORK and its condition of TOURIST ATTRACTION.

To this end, by means of a PROSPECTIVE WORK METHODOLOGY based on CITIZENS’ PARTICIPATION, a document founded on three keys purposes is created: the REINTERPRETATION of the relationship between Seville and the Guadalquivir River, the REHABILITATION of public space and, last but not least, the DISCOVERY the potential of the Guadaira River. The new management model implements SOCIAL AND TERRITORIAL INTEGRATION, SUSTAINABILITY, EFFICIENCY and URBAN DIVERSITY, as well as TECHNOLOGICAL BETTING.
